Make the plan before the forecast gets urgent

Storm prep is easier when you have a checklist and know who is responsible for each step. Confirm marina rules, haul-out options, insurance requirements, and emergency contacts early.

Dockside prep

• Double up lines and protect against chafe
• Remove loose deck gear, cushions, covers, and canvas where appropriate
• Check bilge pumps and batteries
• Photograph the boat before the storm
• Secure documents and confirm insurance contact details

Communication matters

Make sure the marina, captain, broker, or caretaker has current contact information. If you are away from the boat, assign someone local to inspect after the weather clears.
